I have found one of the best parts of being a parent is the learning curve. Journalism and motherhood feed my never-ending thirst for knowledge, to use a bad cliche. Whether its navigating the often complicated education system, or reading about the latest health advice for children, I'm always on a hunt for answers.
In starting this blog and joining the Asbury Park Press education team, I hope to explore the world of our kids and share that inside view with you. With so much on the horizon for New Jersey schools - through new teachers evaluations, talks of extending the school day and school year, or in the implementation of the Common Core State Standards - it's important to pay attention to how these changes affect the future for our children.
I welcome your calls, concerns, letters and local news about what's happening in your schools and homes. And, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on what's ahead for the next generation.
